Valerian is a perennial plant with an extremely varied morphology. The main bioactive substance of Valeriana officinalis is valerenic acid, which is found in the essential oil of the root. Valerian has a very special smell which, however, is perceived only at the root and especially after it dries. Valerian extracts have a strong aroma, in contrast to the fresh plant which is odorless. Use: Put 2 tsp in one cup of boiled water for 10 min. Drain and drink.
